When the inversion layer is low the summit of Mauna Loa and its western slopes are visible from my home away from home. Unfortunately we don't have too many windows to look through at the summit as the other observatories might get a little annoyed whenever we turn the lights on. Those wanting to take photos of the summit views have to step outside and brave the cold and wind, but it's worth it.The vog and clouds in the saddle between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa always fascinate me. lobrien - that's too kind! I can send you the full size image if you want although I would need an email address to do that (my profile has a contact email if you want to do this). To be honest I think I have better photos for desktop backgrounds but am very happy you like this one!
