It's clear all over the islands except here! The noise of the thunder is awesome but the lightning is freaking me out so time to switch everything off. And the house is shaking. This isn't nice.

I would just see the sky light up and then I could feel the house shaking... I thought to myself... Someone would tell me if the island was violently erupting and falling apart... right? Like a crawl on TV? LOL
Blake - is this the first thunderstorm you've experienced here? It was a bad one but you may want to re-evaluate later this winter. Due to La Nina, NWS are predicting a very nasty January!
Still, to get the best effect, you need to come down to Kaloli Pt during a storm to experience the inexplicable attraction it has for thunderstorms and violent lightning.
This was an odd storm - can't remember my house shaking so much before and the rolling thunder would go on for 10-seconds at a time sometimes. Definitely unusual but maybe the sound was echoing in the storm cloud itself as it was huge!
Yes Tom my first... we generally have not seen thunder and lightning with the rain... and as you stated long rolling thunder. It was interesting. I also experienced weather for the past ten years in a high-rise building so doing it again in a metal-roofed house has been interesting. I can just imagine Kaloli Point!
Blake - just wait for later this year or perhaps January - it's likely we'll get some heavy rain and can tell you that what you've seen or heard so far is nothing!
