Puna sunset

Although I'm on call right now and we've had some problems at the start of recent nights (yes, one of those was my fault, but there have been other issues), I decided to risk it and head to my favourite neighbourhood photography place shortly before sunset. It's only about a mile from home and I took the cell phone, so if we had an emergency I wouldn't be out of touch or too far away from my computer. The sky looked amazing and wanted to try and get a few photos that weren't taken from the lanai.

This time I was actually in the mood to try out my graduated ND filter - it's a thing old fashioned photographers used to use back in the dark ages when they had to use film and deal with bright sky and dark land in one photo. Us young kids don't worry about that these days, what with all them computers, electronics and stuff. Well, to any old-fashioned photographers reading this, long may you continue with those filters! You know I'm just joking and all I need to do is practise with it a little more often...

Anyway, the top picture is of the houses in Hawaiian Paradise Park that have been built right on the cliffs. Kaloli Point is in the background (that's where I live, but not on the cliffs). I took a lot of other photos but will save them for another day - I need some sleep. Just like Bubbles...

What a dramatic sunset!
Bubbles is so cute; what is he sleeping on? It looks like a sausage of some sort.;))

It's Bubbles' favourite toy - a catnip-infused string of sausages. Both cats love these toys but usually they get bored after a few days, but this one has kept them entertained for months. It was a gift from a friend but I need to find out where it came from.
