Think it's now up to four different diagnoses yet the pain gets worse (and I have taken the baseball bat away from the cats). The Doc now has me on the hard stuff which certainly has some interesting side effects. I tried to steam some vegetables this evening without using any steam and left several empty plastic bags in the fridge along with my cell phone. Odd thing is I remember doing it, just not the reason why.
CT scan tomorrow and maybe when the results come in (Monday) I'll have a better idea what's going on. Have to admit I'm a little scared although I can now walk in a straight line which is better than a few days ago.

Oh, no, I'm so sorry. Sending a prayer up for you that all is well, and if not that it can be easily fixed.
Another prayer for you! Tick borne illness being considered?
CT scans don't catch what the MRI does. For example, CT did not show the hairline fracture on my mother's vertebrae, whereas the MRI did. The doc then injected cement and she is 100% well now. No pain.
Prior to the MRI, the ER doc told my sister to place Mom in a nursing home and that she would have to deal with back pain for the rest of her life. Thank God, my sister was her advocate, because she insisted on an MRI.
This was at Kaiser Medical Center.
Keeping you in my best thoughts, Tom. Please keep us posted.
Thanks, all, I really do appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
Had the CT scan today but have to wait until Monday for the result. Gigi - I think in this case the doc wants to look for a problem with my spine which CT is better for (e.g., pinched nerve although he thinks that's unlikely given the symptoms), but understand your comment. I had an MRI some years ago for another reason and my insurance didn't cover it which left me with a very hefty bill as well.
It's nearly two weeks now and still don't really know what's wrong. Dizziness and nausea have gone for the most part but pain is worse than ever. Feels like someone trying to hacksaw off a large chunk of my skull.
Oh well, no one chooses to live on the Big Island for the health care...
Tom
Tom, I am so sorry to read all this eventually (I haven't read any blogs in weeks). I hope you get better soon. I would have gone up to UKIRT
with Craig on Good Friday.
I hope you get better soon.
I hope you get news soon - good news.
Maren - thanks, and don't worry about the trip to the summit, that was before all this happened and doubt it had anything to do with whatever is wrong.
Keera - thank you as well, and yes, I really wish for some news soon whatever it is. Can't stand not knowing what's wrong. I actually had a good day today, first time in 2 weeks, but the pain is back again tonight although not as bad as before.
I'm going to look like a great big wuss if this turns out to be a pinched nerve or something similar, but even if it does Doc doesn't understand how that could cause the initial symptoms.
Tom
Yikes! I haven't checked in here for a while because I was traveling but I am so sorry to hear about your health woes :(
I hope you get your diagnosis soon and even more that you recover as quickly as possible!
Sending you warm aloha...
