Distant Haleakala

The summit of Haleakala, about 80 miles away from Mauna Kea's summit and on the island of Maui. This was taken a good ten minutes after sunset. I'm hoping that one day soon I'll reverse this shot and take a picture of Mauna Kea from Haleakala! It's been many years since I've visited Maui.

Wow this post was made on my birthday! Guess I'll wish myself a happy one...happy birthday to oldie me...

Someday maybe I will get back to Maui. I know some ppl who live there but I have not been there since the 70s. Dad tried to get us all up to the crater on that visit but my poor sister was carsick on the twisty road up (all over me, that is) and when we got up there it was too cloudy to see much. Guess there are some advantages to "traveling" on the Internet.

It has to be amongst the most expensive places to visit - I was looking at hotel prices recently as I really would like to go back, but even a three night stay with a car is approaching a thousand bucks. There's a limit...

It can be done cheaper but I'm getting to the point in life where I like a little luxury now and then - even if it's just some decent tea bags by the coffee maker!
