Autumn sky

I don't really have much to say about this one, I just like it. The moon is rising behind the clouds and the ironwood tree. The back-lit clouds are amazing. I love evenings like this as long as I'm at home. If I was at work I'd be swearing. Well, perhaps not, but I might stick my finger up against all those Autumn-huggers: you know who you are!

I'm still jealous...

Beautiful photograph! I think it was full moon here last night, and on the 13th of all days. I was wrong when I said it was a couple of days ago.:P I was trying t take a picture of the moon, but it did it not become anything close to this.;)
How can you miss the autumn when you live in a tropical paradise.;)

Gorgeous photo and it seems to me that you have nothing of which to be envious. But I dodged the finger to get here anyway. ;)

I really love this photo. I'm glad blogger has the feature that makes it easy to email to others. My part of California can really use a reminder of paradise right now, while our area experiences its second horrific fire of 2008. I live where the climate is usually nice but it was 105 on my patio today.

Protege - thank you! I think you can live in a place long enough that you forget how beautiful it is. I try not to do this and I know that Mauna Kea still keeps me in awe, but no matter what, I miss the colours of a true Autumn!

Hilary - sorry about the finger, but you've made me even more jealous - your recent photos of Autumn in Canada just had me sitting in silence for a while contemplating what a beautiful place you live in. Incidentally, Canada is my favourite place to visit but I haven't been there for a long time. I need to go back after seeing your photos.

Beep - ironically, fires can give rise to some of the most beautiful nighttime photos. I'm sure you'll be seeing some stunning ones soon, but I hope the fires are controlled soon.

Tonight I was with my Alabama friends in Hilo for dinner again and when we left the bay front restaurant we all stopped and stared for 5 to 10 minutes. The moon was rising over Hilo Bay and I've never seen anything so beautiful - a couple of clouds, the moon's reflection on the ocean, the palm trees and a few lights from the boats in the bay. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me...

Beautiful photo! Funny thing is, our moon's been looking like that too, making ghostly lighting effects through the clouds.
